“Film noir” finds its inspiration in the genre which appeared in the 1940’s with melodrama novels adapted on screen to the 1950’s. Many kept its codes, still nowadays, adaptations or new materials, from “Taxi Driver” (1976) to “Drive” (2011), through Science-Fiction (“Blade Runner”,…), comics (“Sin City”,…) or video games (“L.A. Noire”,…).
Rain, dark night with an orange moon, mysterious murder, hardboiled detective on a raincoat, alone in his investigation, a femme fatale in a red dress and high heels, skyscrapers lost in cloudy dark sky, a hero becoming an antihero,…
This work takes all the codes, colors, characteristics, that make it finally a “concerto noir”.
Although a story is told, the score remains as a concerto in its primary form, and the soloist can act as the desperate private detective looking for crime evidences within the orchestra…
The premiere of “film noir”, originally scheduled on December 18, 2020, Levallois, by the Orchestre d’Harmonie de Levallois (dir. Vincent Renaud), with Adélaïde Ferrière, solo percussion, has been postponed (COVID) to December 15, 2021, then to April 15, 2022.
